Topic 6a: Op-Amp Linear Applications

In this topic, we cover some of the op-amps' linear applications.

Lets do some group discussion!

With a partner(s), discuss which op-amp linear application is most suitable to be used in each of the scenarios below. Discuss in detail on the required resistors and the supply voltages for the op-amps. Analyze the input and output characteristics of the circuit manually, and then simulate the circuit using the online EDA tool Multisim Live (https://www.multisim.com/).

  1. You are a technical consultant for a tech firm that wants to design a circuit that could could sum the voltages on three separate wires or nodes. The first node is a constant 6V, second node a sine wave of 3Vsin10t, and a third node a sine wave of 4Vsin10t. Please suggest and design a suitable op-amp based circuit to achieve this.

  1. You are an engineer working on processing of signals, and you are required to manipulate a sine wave of 5Vsin100t by amplifying the magnitude by a factor of 3, and produce an output sine wave (of the same frequency) that is out of phase by 180 degrees. Please suggest and design a suitable op-amps based circuit to achieve this.

  1. While working on the design of a microphone, you have found out that the speaker that was connected to the microphone produces noise and echo. Suggest a suitable op-amps based circuit between the microphone and the speaker such that the noise and echo can be completely removed.
